Brands that test on animals

This page contains a list of brands that test on animals, or whose parent companies do. It serves as a guide when shopping: if a brand is not on the cruelty-free brands list, it is worth checking why.

How a brand ends up on this list

  • It tests finished products or ingredients on animals itself.

  • It pays for, or allows, third parties to do so on its behalf.

  • It sells in markets where the law requires animal testing.

  • It belongs to a company that tests on animals, even if the brand itself claims it does not.

Why the list is not final

Brand policies change, and companies merge and get acquired. The list is therefore updated from time to time, but before buying always check the brand's current statement or an official certification.

What you can do

Take a look at the list of cruelty-free brands, and if you want to know more about alternatives to animal testing, read about NAMs.
